Steps Required to Scan your PC Options

Please follow the following steps. I hope that you are having a full time internet connection (i.e a ADSL/Broadband Internet Connection which is always ON). This type of connection is required so that you can update the virus definitions. If that is the case then you have to manually go to the symantec's website and download the antivirus updates. Send me Personal Messsage to let u know how to do that.

Step 1 :

Well first step for you is to download a nice, Licensed, Never getting expire version of Anti virus on your PC. Unfortunately as your PC might be infected so there are chances that installation of this might be a failure as generally an already resident virus in a system's memory blocks the installation of any anti virus programs. Still Just keep fingers crossed and follow the steps mentioned below

Step 2 :

If you have successfully downloaded the file above then its time for you to unzip it. Unfortunately Windows's Default ZIP doesn't supports unzipping it. So ... Download the winrar http://www.rarlabs.com/rar/wrar38b2.exe and use this software to Extract the files out of the above compressed file in an appropriate folder.

Step 3:

• Save the extracted folder in your DESKTOP folder itself.
• Restart the Window
• As Soon as computer restarts keep hitting the 'F8' button until a boot menu appears. Select 'Safe Mode with networking' from there and press enter.
• Wait for system to get loaded until you see the Desktop. Go to the Folder where you extracted the files inside that archive I.e (symncec_cor_11.rar).
• Run Setup.exe and keep pressing next without changing any options or settings.
• After the installation ends, Symantec will ask you to run the LIVE Update. Run Live update and wait for its to completely get updated. It will download an approximate of 30 MB files from the Internet so that much will be required.Please note that its recommended that you don't do anything else during that period.
• Now once the Virus Definitions are updated then restart your PC in the Normal Windows Mode.
• Go to Programs -> Symantec Client Security -> Symantec Antivirus
• Click on Scan -> Full scan -> Scan
• Wait for system to get fully scanned.

Generally its a bad idea to Install a virus scanner in already infected Pc but then something is better than nothing. Though the LONG time best option will be to format your windows and as soon as u format then repeat STEP 1,2,3 (without going into any hardrive partitions as just merely clicking on hard drives the virus gets activated!).
